Our View: Drivers be aware - Sunday's show could mean a tow

It won't be difficult to spot a spectacular looking automobile parked in downtown Boone on Sunday, but unless you're driving a vintage Model T Ford, one of those spectacular vehicles shouldn't be yours.

In anticipation of the 2014 annual Tour of the Model T Ford Club International car show, King Street from Appalachian Street to Depot Street will be closed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Because of this, all vehicles will need to be moved prior to 10 a.m. -- a warning the Boone Police Department is serious about: Vehicles parked on King Street between Appalachian and Depot after that time on Sunday are subject to being towed.

And on the topic of drivers, the individuals who propel those large, yellow vehicles around our roadways twice a day may be off for the summer holiday, but your opportunity to interact with a school bus is as close as the Yadkin Bank parking lot in Boone.

Watauga's Back 2 School Festival will have a school bus parked at the bank lot until Aug. 4 in an effort to "pack the bus" with supplies that the festival will need to support its mission to ensure that all children go back to school well-prepared.

School supplies will be accepted during regular business hours, and a list of needed items can be found at http://www.back2schoolfestival.org/school-supply-lists/.

The festival this year is 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at Watauga High School.
