Todd Ruritan Club awards Ruby Trivette scholarship to community youth
by Sherrie Norris
On April 15, during the regular monthly meeting of the Todd Ruritan Club, Levi Dillard was named the recipient of the 2014 scholarship, given each year in memory of the late Ruby Trivette.
Trivette is remembered as a community activist, a dedicated member of Ruritan and someone who imparted great wisdom upon the younger generation.
Dillard was awarded a $1,500 scholarship, which will go toward his education at Wilkes Community College, after which he plans to continue his studies at N.C. State University in pursuit of an engineering degree.
"Each year, the Todd Ruritan awards scholarships in memory of Ruby Trivette to help the local Todd students who are going on to college in the fall," club president Barry Stevens said. "Mrs. Trivette is no longer with us here in Todd, but her legacy in education and helping others will live on for a long time to come. She was a lady who didn't say a lot, but when she did speak, what she said was worth hearing. We all learned a lot by listening to her. The Ruritan Club and the Todd Community Club were blessed to have had her as a leader for many years."

Todd residents or friends of the Todd community who would like to contribute to the scholarship fund may do so by mailing tax-deductible donations to Todd Ruritan Club, P. O. Box 234, Todd, NC 28684, with a memo to indicate same.
