Tellabration in Valle Crucis Nov. 17
by Anna Oakes
Watauga County will once again participate in
Tellabration, a worldwide storytelling celebration held every year on the
weekend before Thanksgiving.
Tellabration will be held at the original Mast General
Store in Valle Crucis on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Admission
is free.
The storytellers will be Ted Hicks, son of legendary storyteller Ray Hicks;
Orville Hicks, Ray’s cousin; and Tammy Sanabria. Doyle
Pace, also a storyteller, will serve as the emcee.
In addition to Mast Store, Tellabration is sponsored by
Watauga Arts Council and Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living.
Tellabration was started in 1988 by J.G. Pinkerton, a
Connecticut storyteller. Since then, it has spread across the world; Tellabration
is held on every continent except Antarctica.
