Profile Trail workday set for Saturday

by Staff Reports

Volunteers are invited to join the National Park Service on Saturday to maintain and repair sections of trail in Grandfather Mountain State Park.

No experience or tools are necessary, and the workdays provide a fun environment in which to work and give back.

The tasks can include digging up roots or soil, moving rocks, controlling erosion, building rock walls or other similar tasks.

Volunteers need sturdy, closed-toe shoes, work gloves (leather preferred), comfortable work clothes and a non-alcoholic beverage. Bug spray, sunscreen and a rain jacket also are suggested.

Saturday’s workday runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Profile Trail access off N.C. 105.

The final workday of the year will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Profile Trail.
