Offices close for Labor Day
Several area businesses and offices will be closed Monday in honor of Labor Day.
In addition to most major banks, offices of the town of Blowing Rock, town of Boone and Watauga County will be closed. However, the Watauga County Sanitation Department and the convenience centers will operate on a regular schedule Monday.
The Watauga County Commissioners have canceled their meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The Watauga County Public Library will be closed Monday, as well as Watauga County Schools. Appalachian State University will be closed on Labor Day, but the university's Belk Library and Information Commons will open at 2 p.m.
AppalCART routes also will not run Monday, with the exception of the Red, Gold and State Farm routes beginning at 4 p.m. The routes will follow a typical Sunday schedule.
The Grover Robbins Swimming Complex in Blowing Rock will be open on Labor Day, which will be the pool's last day of the season.
The main office of Mountain Times Publications will be closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday but will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.
