Moretz to be named NC Small Farmer of the Year

Apple grower Bill Moretz of the Todd area will be recognized as North Carolina's Small Farmer of the Year at the annual Small Farmers Appreciation Luncheon in Greensboro later this month, Watauga Cooperative Extension Executive Director Jim Hamilton said Tuesday.
The award is presented to a family farm in North Carolina that exemplifies success, innovation and leadership in small-scale agriculture. The luncheon takes place as part of Small Farms Week, which includes educational forums and other activities. Tammy Gray-Steele, executive director for the National Women in Agriculture Association, is the featured speaker at the luncheon.
