Holiday markets offer local gifts, treats

Shop for gifts, décor, sweets and delicious additions to your Thanksgiving and holiday meals at the High Country's holiday markets, taking place this weekend through Dec. 1.
Watauga County Farmers' Market
The Watauga County Farmers Market will hold two special holiday markets on Saturdays, Nov. 17 and 24, from 9 a.m. to noon. The market is located at 591 Horn in the West Dr. in Boone.
Items will include lamb, grass-fed beef, pork, spinach, lettuce, beets, carrots, potatoes, bread puddings, apple and pumpkin butters, holiday chocolate goat cheese truffles and other goat cheese products, honey, cakes, gourmet confections, jewelry, holiday wall hangings, baskets, dried flowers, Christmas cards, pottery and more.

Ashe County Farmers' Market
Holiday markets take place at the Ashe County Farmers' Market on Saturday, Nov. 17, Friday, Nov. 23, Saturday, Nov. 24; and Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located on the Backstreet in West Jefferson. Beech Mountain Market
Buckeye Recreation Center hosts its annual Holiday Market in Beech Mountain Saturday, Nov. 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market will feature arts and crafts created by local artisans. Vendors must pay a $10 fee. Call (828) 387-3003 for more information.
Boone Service League
Boone Service League presents its annual Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 8 to 11 a.m. in conjunction with the Watauga Education Foundation's Flapjack Flip. The event takes place at Watauga High School, and tickets are $5. Items for purchase include jewelry, handmade bags, pillows, Christmas wreaths and trees and more.
