Gallery featuring works by Kwiatkowski
The exhibition will be on display through Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Kwiatkowski is a student in Appalachian's Scholars with Diverse Abilities Program, an initiative that provides a college experience for students with intellectual disabilities.
Art has been a lifelong source of expression for Kwiatkowski, who has Down syndrome.
During his time at Appalachian, Kwiatkowski has expanded his artistic practice through classes within the Department of Art.
"Inspiring Stories and Adventures" showcases Kwiatkowski's artistic variety through works ranging from those rendered with crayons and Sharpie markers, to ceramic works and acrylic paintings.
In addition to incorporating a range of media, his bold and colorful works reflect a unique interpretation of influences, according to gallery officials. Through titles such as "Savage Land," "Knights of the Round Table" and "Peter and the Wolf," viewers gain insight into the stories and ideas that inspire Kwiatkowski's abstracted works.
The Looking Glass Gallery is located on the first floor of Plemmons Student Union.
Gallery hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.
Gallery admission is free.
