Free tickets available for Navy band concert

The Commodores Jazz Ensemble, a part of the United States Navy Band program, will present a free concert on at 7:30 p.m.  on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Watauga High School auditorium.

The concert, part of the ensemble's 2012 National Tour, is co-sponsored by the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University and the Watauga High School Band.

The Navy Band Commodores feature 19 top jazz and "big band" musicians, offering a mixture of styles ranging from authentic sounds of the swing era to contemporary high energy music.

The concert is free, but tickets are required. Free general admission tickets are available by mailing a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Commodores Concert, c/o Hayes School of Music, 813 Rivers St., Boone, NC  28608.

Tickets may also be picked up now at the main office in the Hayes School of Music located in the Broyhill Music Center at 813 Rivers St. on the Appalachian campus.

A limited number of seats is available, and a "sold-out" concert is anticipated.

Any unclaimed seats will be available to nonticket holders just prior to concert time. For more information, call (828) 262-3020.
