Dara Watson memorial planned
by Staff Reports
Cornerstone Summit Church of Boone will be hosting a memorial service to remember the life of the late Dara Watson. The memorial will be held at the Jones House at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 11.
In early February 2012 Watson went missing and was found dead days later after a lengthy and extensive search throughout the High Country area. Her tragic murder became both a local and national news story.
The former Boone resident is survived by her parents, Darrel and Ellen Watson, owners of Watsonatta Western World in Boone, and many other close family and friends.
Local church, Cornerstone Summit, will be hosting this year's memorial for Watson on behalf of the Watson family. This observance is open to the residents of Boone and the surrounding communities and will commemorate her life.
Friends, family, and community leaders will be gathering for prayer and fellowship on the lawn in front of the Jones House on West King Street in Boone.
