DBDA announces window display contest, Jones House hours

Whether it's to show off their latest products or simply to create a picturesque scene, downtown Boone merchants are encouraged to decorate their storefront display cases for a chance to win the Bright Beautiful Boone window display contest.
The Downtown Boone Development Association this year revives a holiday-themed window display contest that was held in the past, with the winner to be decided by online voting.
The winning merchant will receive $150.
Online voting begins Nov. 29 and runs through Dec. 19, with the winner to be announced Dec. 20.
Merchants are also encouraged to hang fresh wreaths on their doors and incorporate choose and cut Christmas tree traditions into their displays to signify the DBDA's partnership with choose and cut Christmas tree farms.
The Jones House Cultural and Community Center will be open to the public on Black Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 30.
"Our galleries will be open for people to enjoy, as well as our restrooms," said Boone Downtown Coordinator Virginia Falck. "We will have cider and cookies and will happily provide information about Boone to all visitors."
