Charity golf tournament set for Aug. 15

by Sherrie Norris

Casa Rustica Restaurant in Boone is hosting its seventh annual Charity Golf Tournament on Aug. 15 at the Boone Golf Club,  with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the High Country Caregiver Foundation and Blowing Rock CARES.

The fundraiser promises to provide a great day of golf, food and prizes -- all in the name of community spirit, according to Casa Rustica Restaurant organizers.

The four-man captain's choice tournament will offer white T-shirts for male players, red for women and gold for both men and women older than 70.

Entry fee is $125 per player and includes greens and cart fee, mulligans, lunch and dinner afterward, which will be held at the clubhouse and provided by Casa Rustica.

Prizes will be awarded for the shot closest to the pins, hole-in-one and all-day raffles.

Hole and banner sponsorships are available from $100 (hole sponsors) to $2,000 (presenting and exclusive sponsors).

The High Country Caregiver Foundation is a nonprofit organization about helping family caregivers in Avery and Watauga counties, with a primary emphasis on organizing community support and involvement in the services it provides.

Blowing Rock CARES is a nonprofit organization serving the needs of families in the Blowing Rock area with food, non-perishable items and clothing.

The Pedroni family at Casa Rustica has long been known for its community outreach and has raised thousands of dollars each year to support the work of local charities since the charity tournaments began.

"We are extremely grateful to Rick and Liz Pedroni and their staff for all they do for us and other nonprofit groups in the area," said Brenda Reece, executive director for High Country Caregiver Foundation. "Their contributions are invaluable and help us to be able to continue helping others."

Registration has begun with entry forms available at the websites and and at the High Country Caregiver Foundation Facebook page, or they can be picked up at the Boone Golf Club.
