Boone Sunrise Rotary installs new officers

Boone Sunrise Rotary Club installed new officers for 2013-14 at its annual banquet at Hound Ears Club on June 26.

Officers are Chuck Eyler of Nationwide Insurance, secretary; and Frank "Ham" Wilson of di Santi Watson Capua Wilson & Garrett, president. Roger Wright of Wright Properties LLC is past president.

Mark Markander, past Rotary district governor, was the guest speaker.

The club's 50 members plan to continue to practice Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self," in the coming year by supporting local and international projects.

The projects include Rotary International's Polio Plus Campaign, which has helped reduce worldwide polio cases to a total of 69; Hospitality House; American Red Cross; Habitat for Humanity; Salvation Army; Appalachian Women's Fund; Appalachian Theater; scholarships for local students; and TAPS, a water project in Africa.

Boone Sunrise Rotary Club meets on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Boone.

Boone Sunrise Rotary Club will also be holding its annual fruit sale in November and December for delivery of fresh fruit before Christmas.
