ASU greenhouse plant sale May 16-18
by Anna Oakes
The Appalachian State University Biology Greenhouse hosts its annual spring plant sale Thursday to Saturday, May 16 to 18.
Hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The greenhouse is located at 211 Dale St., next to the university's State Farm parking lot.
Student volunteers and the greenhouse manager have grown tropical plants, perennials and vegetables, including nearly 40 varieties of tomatoes selected by a local gardener. Prices begin at $1, and only cash and checks can be accepted.
Proceeds from the sale support the greenhouse's "High Country Gardening" community outreach program, which offers classes on gardening topics throughout the year.
Sale attendees may also observe the 750 plant species in the greenhouse's conservatory.
